December 2015 Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hey!

I'm SO happy you've stopped by the blog today as today is the December 2015 Design Team Blog Hop. Along with the hop we have a GIVEAWAY! So be sure to grab a drink, get comfy, relax and enjoy!

As we've quite a few new followers here, ("Hello & Thank you") I will explain what's going on! Here at Uniko I *USUALLY* only release new products every other month. This is for a number of reasons, firstly, being an avid paper crafter myself and knowing the current economic climate I know 'some' are on a limited budget when it comes to buying new stash, so this way you're not tempted to splurge too much every month.

The second reason is that it is just me here at Uniko HQ. I currently run this little business single handedly, designing, blogging, demoing, classes, packing. Alongside that I am a full time mum to 13  month old twin boys! So releasing every other month gives me chance to keep my head above water, well...just about!

So, on the in-between release months the Design Team & I take a look back at a previously released product, dust it off and give it some love! This month as we are FAST approaching Christmas I decided to dust off the previously released Background Builders: Christmas to give you all some last minute inspiration & me the opportunity to make more much needed Christmas cards!

As you can see this set features a wonderful selection of Christmas background building strips, some of which are even suitable all year round.

As always I like to share a couple of my 'old faves' using the sets...

This first card features the 2 step stamping holly building stamps & is paired with sentiments from All Occasion Sentiments #4. My next card shows how the set can be used all year round...

And here is a new project featuring the set...

Usually I would reach for the snowflakes as they are my favourite, but after choosing an old favourite above I reached for the 2 step holly stamps. I decided to play along at CAS Colours & Sketches again  HERE and this week it is choose a sketch from 2015 and make it Christmassy.

The sketch I chose to work with is from challenge #111 HERE and seen below, some fun diagonals another favourite of mine ;)

I decided to make a one layer card for easy Christmas mailing and I defined my triangular panels my using two shades of green to stamp the holly leaves, which I think creates a lovely effect. I decided to keep the sentiment simple & stamped it in black ink to stand out against the pattern. I was toying with the idea of adding an embellishment but thought it would distract from the focus of the two tone holly and the CASness of the sketch and card design, so left it off. I'd love to know what you think :)

Ok, that is all from me but how about some more inspiration from the awesome DT.

AND don't forget the GIVEAWAY... Simply comment along the hop by midnight Thursday 31st December 2015 (GMT) for your chance to win the featured set or a eGift Certificate code to the same value if you already own them...

  11. Hey, that's one of my sketches! :) I've always had designer paper in mind when using it, so I really like that you've stamped the two triangular areas. I tend to struggle with one-layer cards but you make it look easy-peasy here! Thanks so much for sharing your card with us at CC&S.

  12. I love your two-tone holly leaves and the way that the sentiment is stamped overlapping with them. Don't have this set yet but I love how your Background Builders can be used in so many different ways. Thanks for joining us at CC&S this week. I will be sure to comment along the rest of the hop!
